gn0m0n has been making music for years but never settled into any one genre.
Too restless and hungry for new sonic experiences to settle into one
genre, his music is sometimes melancholic, sometimes ecstatic, sometimes
abrasive, sometimes played on acoustic guitar and sometimes sounding
like an alien spaceship malfunctioning. And yet a consistent style
permeates his music- moody, thick, and groovy.
I think part of the reason people disagree about what is good music is that they listen to it for different reasons and purposes. For me, listening to and making music isn’t mostly about clever wordplay or technical virtuosity. It’s usually about providing a certain kind of experience- one in which our selves are quieted down in the presence of something- of some phenomena- that feels large and strange, like some primal aspect of the universe, as if we’ve tapped into these sounds and rhythms rather than created them. Or maybe it’s just kind of like feeling like your brain’s been microwaved a little bit. My aesthetic is sincere without being naive. It is richly varied, at times giddy and other times melancholic. A similar aesthetic permeates the other forms of art found here.
